Decadent French Toast Souffle’ Recipe

  • A rich, moist soufflé with all the classic flavors of French toast. Put together the night before, for an impressive breakfast or brunch entree! Recipe provided courtesy of Butler House on Grand Bed and Breakfast, Des Moines, Iowa.


  • 3 cup light cream
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 large croissants
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 10 eggs
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup


  1. Coarsely chop croissants in a food processor; distribute evenly over the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch casserole dish or baking pan.
  2. Combine cream cheese, butter and 1/4 cup maple syrup in food processor; process until smooth.
  3. Spread over chopped croissants.
  4. Beat eggs, 1/2 cup maple syrup, and cream in a large bowl; pour over mixture.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  8. Uncover casserole and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until slightly puffed and golden.
  9. Heat 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup maple syrup in a small sauce pan; pour over warm soufflé.
  10. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and pecans.
  11. Serve immediately.
