Traditional Apple Cider Recipe

- A staple for cool fall nights.
Ingredients
- 2 broken cinnamon, sticks
- 1/2 tsp Whole Allspice
- 1/2 tsp Whole Cloves
- 2 qt apple cider or juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Bourbon, as desired (optional)
Directions
- Place cinnamon, allspice and cloves in a small piece of cheesecloth.
- Heat cider and sugar in a large saucepan with spices over medium-high heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes, covered.
- Remove and discard spice bag before serving.
- To serve, pour desired amount of bourbon (if desired) in each glass and fill with warm cider.
Tips
Cider can be simmered in a slow cooker.
